Harlee James
THERAPIST/SOUND PRACTITIONER
Harlee James is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. She received her Bachelor’s in Biology with a minor in dance, from University of Richmond in 2015 and then her Master’s in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University, College of Health Professions in 2021.
Harlee has previous experience working with children, adolescents, and families in the residential setting who seek help for various mental health diagnoses including but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, and maladaptive functioning. In recent years, she has expanded her experience to provide individual, family and couples counseling services to people of a variety of populations and ages.
Harlee uses a person-centered approach with a variety of diverse modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectal-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and various creative forms. She is also educated in the practice of Sound Healing as an alternative wellness support that may be used in addition to talk therapy.
Harlee aims to individualize her approach to meet the unique needs of each of her clients. Her practice centers around establishing a warm and empathetic alliance with her clients so to create a safe environment that supports them in identifying their unmet areas of need, their strengths, and how to utilize that knowledge and awareness to improve their overall quality of life.
